Thai bodywork is a unique style of bodywork that embodies the essence of massage, acupressure, yoga, and meditation. With these qualities as its source, Thai bodywork flows onto the mat though a graceful and creative blend of both light and deep stretching, acupressure, and compression via the hands, feet, knees, and elbows.
Thai bodywork is not necessarily intended as a deep-tissue therapy, though the ways we work and open the body often result in the releasing of deeply held physical tension and areas of contraction.
More importantly, Thai bodywork always works with the whole rather than attempting to isolate a specific issue or problem area; our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of life are all part of the same system, despite the appearance of being separate. By giving attention to the whole, we encourage healing to reach into every facet of our lives.
Allowing ourselves to let go, to surrender, is a great gift of Thai bodywork. The ways in which we resist the natural flow of life is clearly reflected in our bodies. This resisting is usually unconscious and creates much unneeded stress in our lives and the lives of others. As we flow through each Thai bodywork session, we become more aware of and have the opportunity to relax and release these unconscious resistances, which effortlessly creates more space in our lives for health, happiness, and harmony to thrive.
All Thai bodywork sessions are received on the mat, fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing.
